If You Are Looking For a solution to your
post traumatic stress disorder (ptsd)

I may be able to help you.

Here is why. Because you found your way to my site you may already be aware that I am a Stage Hypnotist. I use hypnosis in a very entertaining and dynamic way for entertainment in my show here in Reno every weekend.  If you have not looked at my videos yet, well you owe it to yourself to go to my videos page and have a few laughs. It will bring you some joy.

Go ahead and do that now and then come back here.

Did you do it?

Wasn't that cool? I thought you would think so. Now listen  amigo hypnosis is REAL!  At night I use hypnosis to entertain people but by day I use hypnosis to help people overcome many different issues. PTSD in one of them.

Here is why I feel that I am the very best person in the world to help some folks with PTSD.

Ready???

I HAD IT!

Whats better is that I know how to deal with it and I can explain it to you in plain language not  kolledge edukated Doctor / head shrinker/therapist language...

Fair enough?

You see while most doctors or therapists only know how to work with post traumatic stress disorder (ptsd)  from reading a book,  taking a seminar or attending some high falutin college that cranks out head shrinkers. I actually had it   So I can relate to you. More importantly I found a solution that did not involve endless sessions sitting in some circle with a bunch of whiners talking to some know it all therapist who scribbled notes on a pad of paper.  I also did  not end up taking handfuls of zombie medications that shrinks hand out like candy on Halloween.

My very brief story:

Now understand something, I'm not going to tell you even the very short cleaned up version of my experience because  I don't want to activate you.

If you have post traumatic stress then you know that reading or hearing or seeing traumatic events can easily "trigger" or "activate" yours. If you don't have post traumatic stress and you are  here reading about it  because someone that you care about  has it then you are about to learn something.  Reading, talking about, hearing about or seeing  traumatic events both real  and made up will activate post traumatic stress. This is why it is a great idea to avoid watching or listening to the news or reading a newspaper or watching blood and guts movies if you have ptsd. This is why  if you ask your person with PTSD to "talk about it," they don't want to. Not even in therapy. Because "talking about their horrible expereince causes them to experience it and RELIVE IT over and over and over.

And guess what buckwheet? It's not fun and talking about it doesn't really ease the pain. It causes more because its like watching a scary scene from a movie back  over and over and over except that this movie is not make believe. It is something you actually lived through and its  emotionally charged.

So I won't go into details here about my own experience but I  will say this.

It all happened back in 1986 and for a long time
If there was a sudden bang or crashing sound such as a car door slamming. If there were fireworks, or gun shots,  if someone clapped their hands, dropped an object, used a hammer, or a stapler, opened or slammed a rolling door on a delivery truck, kicked a garbage can or if an air plane flew a little low...

I was VERY AWARE of it!

I had all of the symptoms of ptsd for about 4 years. But for the first 2  years,  on a scale of 1- 10 I was  OFF THE CHARTS.

Would you like to know what all the head shrinkers did for 17 year old kids with ptsd back in 1986?

Nothing, nadda, zilch, zippo. Unless you consider speaking to a shrink with no training in ptsd  who scribbled in a note pad at $75.00 bucks an hour.

We didn't have all of the mind numbing zombie medications that they have these days. So unless you had access to gallons of vodka or wanted a lobotomy, there was no cure.

So do you know what I did? I figured that I had to fix myself or no one was going to fix me, I went to the weirdest place I knew of where I might find some "far out" unorthodox solution.

I got on the BART and went to
Tower Books in Berkeley California (official epicenter of  all things weird in the United States)  where I knew I would find an alternative  to what was being offered to me as therapy (which was wasting time talking about it)

Do you know what I found at Tower Books? (which was also part of Tower Records)  Well between the books on  peace, Wood Stock, Nixon, Vietnam,  Jimi Hendrix, The Beatles, cheech and chong, yoga, meditation, make your own soap from sea kelp, no nukes, green peace,  moonies, hare krishnas, peoples park,  black panthers, patti hearst, solar power, organic gardening,  how to grow pot, stash pot, smoke pot and raise pot bellied pigs... The Grateful Dead tour schedule, books on how to make a solar house from recycled soda cans, how to make a living selling tie dyed t shirts while living on an old school bus, how to chain yourself to a tree or to a nuclear reactor in a peace protest, tax cheating,  how to make your own hot tub out of a wine barrel, vegetarian recipes, carib, start your own government, and 1001 things to do  that will save the environment...

I found books on HYPNOSIS.

Now in this book on hypnosis it talked about overcoming phobias and anxiety and getting rid of bad memories.

Ahhhh a solution.

I was hooked. I began to read and read and read.
The fine folks at Tower were to stoned to notice me
spending entire days at Tower just reading instead of buying the books ( I was broke back then. )

"In a nutshell" what I learned was this.

When something unexpected and horrible happens to a person one of the things that happens is that
your brain decides that it needs to protect you from this situation happening again and so it connects certain sounds, smells, words, sights, places, situations to this event as a reminder to protect itself and you and your body from this "thing"

And when your brain hears a certain sound, sees a certain thing, hears a certain sound etc it makes an instant connection which TRIGGERS A SUDDEN FEELING with the intention of getting you to immediately behave in a certain way which is usually FIGHT OR FLIGHT and usually results in panic.

which is why
EVERY bang, bump, bang clang etc made me jump out of my skin.
In my case my brain was going DUCK, RUN, COVER HIDE etc.

Now in my case there were other things as well and in your case there may be other situations, sounds, etc. I'm just giving one example.

But what's important to understand is that your brain has recorded this information
so that it gives you a GIANT RED ALERT instead of a gentle warning or  gentle reminder.  Now the challenge is that if you are no longer in eminent danger all the time because you are no longer at war or no longer in harms way. You probably do not appreciate getting this giant RED ALERT going off in your head and body all the time. Chances are you do not need to be hypervigilant all the time.

So whats really neat is that with hypnosis you can train your mind to detach from this and to basically "just chill" so that you are not freaked out all the time.

The way that you do this is you use hypnosis and you enter hypnosis through breathing and relaxation techniques. If you know anything about meditation the process is similar except unlike meditation you have an agenda which in this case is to detach from this  unwanted emotion and to allow these negative feelings to fade away just like the headlines from yesterdays paper....

Now what I did is hard to explain here but in a nutshell I wrote a script and then I hired a Hypnotherapist to help me.  I had to guide him because he did not have any training in PTSD.  Whats important is that it did not matter. We used his skills as a Hypnotherapist and my  ideas and we  got almost instant results.

I will write more  later.  But what's to be learned from this is
that I can use hypnosis to help you and if you are not interested in seeing me
then you can find a Hypnotherapist in your area.
