Hi this is a message from Chris Cady for everyone who is coming to my show here at the Pioneer Underground theater here in Reno and you have any sort of disability... you are using a wheel chair, scooter, cane, crutches, walker, baby stroller or you have a challenge such as bad knees, arthritis, bad hips, bad back or a super sized body that makes it tough for you to get in and out of places and up and down stairs. (You get the point)
I'm going to make it very easy for you to come here and enjoy yourself with your family:
Here is why: For 5 years I had the pleasure of taking care of a disabled, wheelchair bound family member. During this time I learned that going anywhere is a challenge for the disabled person and their family. This is why if you are reading this, you probably don't get out much and you really need to come to my show and laugh your hiney off.
From my own experience most clubs, theaters and basically everywhere, handicapped seating is not very good and most venues are not well suited for disabled people and their families. Because of this, I wanted to do something different in my theater.
That's why before my very first hypnosis show in Reno's Pioneer Underground Theater, I made sure that we would do our very best to create a very easy experience for our disabled guests and their family members or care givers. What I did was before we opened, I sat in a wheel chair and rolled in and out of our theater and figured everything out that would make an experience here EASY for you and your family.
That's why I designed a very simple system to make it very easy for you to come here and enjoy yourselves.
Here it is: Also If there is anything that we can do to make it easier for you to enjoy yourself at this show please let us know.
Reservations And Seating
When you know the date of the show that you will attend please call our box office at 775-324-7474 and let us know your needs and how many people are in your party. We will assign you and your party members very specific VIP seats which are in the front row just slightly over to the right side. This seating is set up so that a wheel chair, or scooter can roll right up to your theater seat in the front row and you can remain in your wheelchair. Or so that you can get into our seats without going up any stairs. There is one step to get into your assigned chairs. (Imagine a movie theater seat in the front row of the theater)
Your wheel chair or scooter can be easily stored a few feet away or you can remain seated in it with your companions right next to you. Pretty good deal right? The rest rooms are also close to this side of the theater so in the event you need to make use of them it is easy for you to leave your seat and access the restroom without having to waive in and out of people or having any problem. Unlike many venues who have lousy wheelchair seats. These are great seats because I personally selected the seats that I would want my family to have.
THIS THEATER AND THE LOBBY IS 100% SMOKE FREE
PARKING AND GETTING INSIDE
There is limited handicapped parking located at the curb on both sides of our building. There are also curbs which will allow you to access the plaza which takes you to our door from the street. If its raining or there is snow on the ground please call us from your cell phone while you are still in your car 775-324-7474 and we will come out and assist you. Otherwise
After you come to our front door you will see a very steep stairwell with around 27 stairs. Obviously your wheelchair or scooter is not going to make it. (including yours)
People with canes, crutches bad knees arthritis or breathing issues don't do well on these stairs either. That's why there is a doorbell located just inside the door. Please ring it and Igor our attendant will come out and take you and your guests into our theater through a private entrance down our super secret elevator. Please be patient with him he used to work at the post office and so he does not move very fast but he's a nice guy especially when he takes his medication. He will take you and your party to your assigned seats. The box office ticket counter and concession bar is only a few feet a way in our lobby.
This process of getting you into our theater takes around 10 minutes total and we are very happy to do it for you. All we ask is that you help us to serve you better by arriving between 7pm and 7:30pm as it makes this process easier.
At the end of the show Igor will assist you and your party back up the private elevator and back out to your vehicle.
REGARDING VOLUNTEERING IN THIS SHOW
If you have any sort of an injury, handicap, disability, are pregnant or you are under the care of a doctor or therapist, or if you take mind altering medications, etc please do not volunteer to be one of the people who gets hypnotized and gets up on stage. When you see the show you will understand why. However it is perfectly ok to watch the show and laugh yourself silly.
I look forward to seeing you soon.
